THE LIFT TOWER

For the short documentary The Lift Tower, director Jack Orton captures the meditative, repetitive, and skilled art of shoemaking, tracing the labor that shaped his family, who worked in Northampton’s factories. 

Shot at the Tricker’s factory in the town’s shoemaking district, the film offers a close examination of British heritage, industrial labor, and contemporary craft, unearthing parallel events and histories within the process.
